“Focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an activity, but in doing it.” -Greg Anderson
I am in the reflective phase of my journey. I expected to come out of this trip changed somehow. In the beginning I wasn’t sure how I would be different or in what ways I would change. Even now in my final days, I’m not 100% sure what the full impact will be.
Truth is, this journey has not just been about me. It’s about the stories I’ve heard & the people I have met. Those encounters will have just as much if not a bigger impact on who I am & who I am destined to become.
I am writing a book about this experience, this journey of self discovery. But in order to write it completely, I will need to circle back & revisit certain places & people who deserve more of my time. I have heard some amazing life stories that I will add & intertwine with me own. So really, my journey has just begun.
I spent a very leisurely morning lounging around the Gooseberry Visitor Center writing & enjoying a chai tea latte with my ice cream cone. Breakfast of champions! At 10:30, I finally decide I should probably do some hiking.
I had a leisurely stroll along the Gooseberry River. Having to walk only 7.5 miles, I was able to just walk & enjoy the beautiful sunny day. I got into camp at a respectable time of 4:00. Not too shabby for a lazy day. I was super glad the terrain was fairly flat. I am still getting sharp knee pains whenever I go up or down.
I spent the afternoon & evening in the company of three lovely, fun women. They come out together every year to have some girl time. I love having other people in camp with me. It’s always a good time & a great opportunity to get to know a little bit about each other while people are winding down.
